Keep an Open Mind

My page is about how we view the world and how we can improve our perception of others. Please look around and keep an open mind, after all that is the purpose. If you would like to look at other things I have to say or the view points of my classmates, our class blog is located here.

"He had to go very close to see that it was
an old man, a very old man, lying face
down in the mud, who, in spite of his
tremendous efforts, couldn’t get up,
impeded by his enormous wings."

-Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Let It Be
by The Beatles is my favorite song written to this day. The meaning behind it is so powerful and always makes you think whether it is the first time or ninty fifth time you have heard it. I would suggest listening to it, and I mean really listen to it. Let the lyrics override all other thoughts, and form your own opinon of why they wrote this song and what it means to you.

You Don't Know Where Your Interests Lie by Simon and Garfunkel is a song that I stumbled upon while searching my itunes library for a song that has lyrics about keeping an open mind and realizing that first impressions are almost never correct. I thought this worked perfectly because of the phase " what you think isn't always true", but I decided not to use it in my creative connections piece. Even so I still wanted to share it with you.

"The universe is wider than our views of it."
-Henry David Thoreau

This picture and quote is so important to my personal philosophy staement because they are both glorious examples of keeping an open mind. The picture repesnts how small we are in this world and that we have no right to take advantage of what was given to us. The qoute plays into this idea of being one of many and there is so much more in this world than what we see and experience on a daily basis. With out keeping an open mind we will never be able to experience all that the world has to offer.
